The change should be in how we perceive menopause

If you mention the subject of menopause it evokes many reactions. Some just ‘don’t want to go there’, others are already preparing for HRT and there are the few that are ready to step through this gateway as another rite of passage. There is no doubt it’s a fractious subject and there is much written about the negatives of this chapter in womens lives.

However in the cycle awareness model it is indeed a rite a passage, and one that can bestow a great deal of power to the women that enter it with conscious awareness. The work of Alexandra Pope provides a great gateway for this journey.

A rare thoughtful piece on menopause was written in the Irish Times recently (November 13th 2012) by Dr Jacky Jones, it’s worth a read. She sums up the subject very well:

It is time to reclaim menopause as a great evolutionary breakthrough that confers huge benefits and status on 21st-century older women, not something to be feared and medicated away.
